Srinagar, Aug 01: Provincial Vice President Kashmir Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) Mohammad Altaf Dar in a statement issued to press here said surging prices of essential items like vegetables and fruits are hitting the common man badly making them shell out more money upsetting their budget. Mohammad Altaf Dar said that the way the prices of vegetables and fruits are increasing at this time, it is causing us a lot of trouble. By the way, the prices of all things are increasing. Whether it is gas cylinders or the price of fruits and vegetables, the budget of the house is getting deteriorating. The prices of all vegetables/fruits has been increased from violating price lists issued by the government price control committee. DPAP Leader Mohammad Altaf Dar said at the same time it is difficult for LG Administration/Government to keep a check on the rise in prices of fruits and vegetables as the commodities are not held in public stocks.The Government/LG Administration however can curb the role of middlemen by monitoring the prices of these commodities in the entire UT j&K so that prices remain equal. Lastly, Provincial Vice President Kashmir Democratic Progressive Azad Party Mohammad Altaf Dar in a statement said there is a need of increasing agricultural productivity in the UT J&K by encouraging local farmers to opt for horticultural crops so that local supply is enhanced and dependence on other states for availing crops is reduced.
